Let’s get rockin’
INDONESIAN rock band Ungu will be performing at Planet Hollywood in Jalan Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur on June 25 at 3pm.
Ungu, hailed as one of Indonesiaís most creative bands, was formed in 1996 by bassist Makki, who was joined by vocalistPasha, guitarists Oncy and Enda and drummer Rowman.
Former model Pasha (Sigit Purnomo), 27 joined the band in 1999. Makki (Makki Parikesit), 35, once performed with American band Joint Session while studying in Indiana University.
Enda (Franco Medjaya), 28, a law graduate from Sam Ratulangi University, joined in 2001 while Oncy (Arlonsy Miraldi), 25, a former Funky Korporal member, joined in 2003.
Rowman (Muhammad Nur Rohman), 32, formerly from rock band Garux, joined in 2001.
In the special showcase, fans can expect Ungu to belt out its radio-friendly hits such as Demi Waktu, Seperti Yang Dulu and Berikan Aku Cinta. Many of the hits are from Ungu’s third and latest album, Melayang.
This album has sold more than 300,000 units and earned the band a Double Platinum Award in Indonesia.
Unguís first album Laguku was launched in 2002 while its second album Tempat Terindah was launched in 2004.
Ungu contributed songs to a Warner Music Indonesia compilation album in 2000, which also featured songs from leading Indonesian bands such as Borneo, Lakuna and Energy.
Ungu’s songs, Hasrat and Bunga, were featured in the album.
